R&D Electronics Technician | Harlow/Cambourne

To complement our growing ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) Team in the UK, we are looking for an experienced R&D Electronics Technician with the skills and enthusiasm to enhance Rakon’s competitive position. For the right candidate, this role can progress to Engineer level.

About The Job

ASIC system engineering is responsible for delivering functional and fully evaluated ASICs to any of the global product development teams within Rakon. You will support the team by setting up, undertaking or coordinating the tests, measurements, analysis and reporting during new ASIC based product development, product/process experiments and other relevant investigations.

Responsibilities will include:

• Support planning and carrying out of new ASIC’s testing and validation, from concept through to prototyping, design verification, qualification testing, etc.

• Support design and implementation of test methodologies required for new products and specifications.

• Undertake setup, operation and running of all measurement equipment for required tests.

• Perform analysis and reporting of experimental results within deadlines.

• Comply with Rakon’s Quality and Health and Safety procedures so as to proactively develop a culture of, continuous quality improvement and the provision of a healthy and safe workplace.

• Participate in project work as required.

Key Competencies:

• Basic Knowledge of electronics theory (bjts, opamps, logic circuits) and practice.

• Previous experience in an electronics product design environment.

• Ability to interpret and understand design and test specifications.

• Analyse and process data and present results in a professional manner at engineering level.

• Computer literacy with general exposure to the Microsoft Office Suite.

• Proficient in the use of Test and Measurement tools (multi-meter, oscilloscope etc).

• Ability to communicate in both verbal and written through effective presentation of data.

• Motivated by demonstrating a desire to want to work in a challenging environment.

• Methodical in following a structured process.

• Able to work independently and has a supportive nature.

• Has the initiative to deliver results on time.

Desired experience:

• Able to create MS Excel macros and formulas.

• Knowledge of product qualification.

• Programming skills such as Python and C# are highly desirable.

• APQP Engineering techniques.

• Test equipment design.

• Engineering experience in a high-tech electronics design and manufacturing company

• PCB Design with Altium or similar CAD software

Education:

• A degree or certificate (such as HND) in the electronics or mechatronics field
